The Boys

Well we try this again I had all my typing done and half the pictures and I accidentally posted it - so I deleted it and will try again!!

We are starting to get busy again as Teylor started fall soccer this last week. He is doing really well and enjoying it a lot more or at least getting in there and trying to kick the ball more than he did last spring! His first practice he was a little out numbered with girls. There was 2 boys and 6 girls and the other little boy had to leave half way through the practice! His team ended up having 6 girls and 4 boys. He has his first game next Tuesday (Sep. 1) which he is VERY excited about!

Parkar has been doing well and finished his last dose of antibiotics last night so we are keeping our fingers crossed that the doctors at the Children's Hospital did wonders - they were fabulous!! We have really noticed a difference in his speech - he is saying more words and pronounces them A LOT clearer than he was. We just hope that was the end it - we have a follow up appt in Denver in two weeks so hopefully we won't have any bad news to share with the doctor:).

This little stinker - I asked him to smile :))

I am doing pretty good and have been keeping myself busy scrap booking quite a bit during the day or taking the boys to the park. I do good and then I see someone pregnant or I get the annoying email on my phone every night from what to expect.com (which I've tried to figure out how to stop getting emails by have failed to do so) and things that remind me - but I just keep my head up and keep tugging along! I go for my follow up appt this week with my doctor so hopefully I can get some of my questions answered. I didn't really have the opportunity nor did I really feel like talking to the doctor in Denver so I have some questions! Each day is getting better and the images I have etched in my mind of the events are slowly fading - and we have had our close friends really help us out!! Cameron has been VERY busy working on the yard and is hoping to get it done in the next couple weeks!! He has played on two softball leagues this summer - a men's league at the beginning of summer and a co-ed league that is going on now. He really enjoys it and we love to watch him play.

Last Sunday we went out to my parents for dinner - she had both my brothers and families because my nephew Austin was leaving for college the next Monday. We had a good time and the boys had a blast playing with the BIG boys (Austin & Dalton) - playing baseball and wrestling. Parkar somehow in the midst of everything managed to get a black eye - not sure how that happened!

Cousin Austin tyring to teach him how
to bat left handed!

The mysterious black eye??? This picture is so
cute I told him to smile - didn't he do a good job!!

This last Monday I had a very dear friend stop by. My friend Misty (we were best friends in junior high) and her husband Greg and their beautiful children Alexa and Dylan came by our house for a couple hours. We had a great time talking with them and are very thankful they took time out of their trip to come see us!
Well that has been the happenings this last week and it is only going to get busier!!!

The WALL, The WALL is done=GRASS!!!

Hooray!!! Cameron FINALLY finished the amazing wall!! I'm so excited about it because now that means we can finally get grass and the boys will know what it's like to play in grass and not DIRT!! Cameron has worked very hard, long days, and in blistering heat to work on this wall. It has taken two summers to do but it is finally done!! The pictures do not do the wall justice but they will work! We had more dirt delivered after he finished it and my dad and brother came over with the bobcat to help spread it out. Cameron has worked on the sprinklers the past two nights and hopefully will have those done by Friday! He is going to make a little brick wall up closer to the house so we can put rock and bushes behind that - he is hoping to work on that this weekend and get it done so we can get sod next week!!!!

Hey everyone- It's probably been a while since you have all seen an update on our page and-as most of you can claim as well- it's because our life has been pretty full and busy lately. I (Cam) don't do the blogging at all but was asked to add our most recent events as best I can-as Raeann wasn't quite up for sharing all that has occured. I'm not good with dates and such so you will get the best version I have. As you all may be aware Parkar has had continuous problems with his ears draining and not being resolved- well it started again a few weeks ago. We had previosly seen an ear doctor in Denver in late June and he had been doing well, but about three weeks ago he started with the drainage and the fevers so Raeann called the doctor in Denver to see what we needed to do. They informed her that they wanted to see him right away there so they could address it while he had the infection and fevers. So that next morning, Wednesday, we drove to Denver and he was admitted to the childrens hospital. We were told that he would get some IV antibiotics for 2-3 days and then wait to see what his infection results showed. Well, Saturday morning we got some answers- they wanted to keep him on the IV antibiotics for 7-10 days and he would be having surgery on Monday. Their plans were to insert a picline IV and to replace his eartubes to eliminate any more possible infections. Well as we hung around and awaited his surgery on Monday, and all week while we were there, Raeann and I alternated staying at my brother and sister-in-laws house-Ryan and Jenn-who graciously allowed us to be there while they were hosting Jenn's parents at their place also. Sunday night Raeann took her turn at their house and was already nervous about the surgery for Parkar the next day and planning(as the wonderful mother she is does) on getting to bed quickly and getting up early to be at the hospital to be there with him. The next morning she had talked with me around 4am,not quite the early that I was anticipating, and was having some cramping pains. Now she had been bleeding since wednesday and had talked with her doctor and he had not expressed too much concern about her symptoms so we felt like all was ok in that aspect. I was thinking that she was most likely having some physical reactions to all of the worry and stress that she had been through all week and was concerned that lack of sleep would make her upcoming day even more difficilt so I told her she needed to try to get more sleep or she could leave Teylor there and come to the hospital. Well the cramping turned into contractions within about 20 minutes and thats when we both knew something wasn't right- she had called her doctor and he said to get to a hospital. She went upstairs to see if Jenn could take her while I in the meantime was searching out her symptoms on the internet. All the information was leading to one answer and as I tried to get back a hold of Raeann everything began. She had gotten Jenn and Ryan up and Ryan had a friend coming over to help give her a priesthood blessing- Raeann needed to go to the bathroom and while she was there she miscarried the baby. Thankfully- Jenn and Ryan were there to get her help(as well as Jenn's parents and Ryans friend Will--Thank You to all)- the ambulance came and took her to the hospital where they took care of her,the baby, and surgically removed any remaining items of concern. She had lost a lot of blood and was pretty weak as well as traumatized by the whole series of events but, as said before "as the wonderful mother she is" was immediatly worried about her boys. ( Who would be with Parkar for his surgery and what will Teylor do when he wakes up--"I promised him I would not leave him"- she said) That single moment was one of the most selfless acts I have ever been witness to---She didn't worry about her pains or troubles or how much she had been through at all, but more about what those she loves are in need of. We are all blessed to have such a loving and thoughtful mother and wife to care for us above herself at even her lowest of lows. I don't mean to get off on a tanjent but I will forever be amazed at her for the kind of person that she is and I wanted to express my gratefulness for her to all who may come upon this blog. So to continue-- I had called Raeanns mom and she was on a mad dash to get to Denver- Ryan and I had swapped places so I could go be with Raeann. He and Raeann's Mom (Pam) would be there for Parkar when he got out of Surgery. All of the staff at The Childrens Hospital were extremely helpful in that transition as well. Parkar didn't have to have the picline in but they did install new tubes and they removed his adenoid regrowth. The doctor who performed the surgery called me afterwards and let me know how it all went-Parkar did great and has been doing wonderfully since. Teylor also did well- he was so preoccupied trying to play Mario-Cart that I couldn't hardly talk to him on the phone to tell him what was going on. Raeann stayed at the hospital for observation and her and I got to do a lot of talking and "soul searching" for lack of a better word. I know this might be disturbing or strange to some of you but I got to see the baby(she miscarried at 17 1/2 weeks but the baby was about the size of a 12 week old they said) What a miracle they truly are - even at the very early stages of life. They were also very wonderful at Raeanns hospital and assisted in our concerns and questions about the baby-whom we lovingly named Berkley J. Gulley. Raeann was released at about 3 that afternoon and she wanted to immediatly go and see Parkar. We went and saw him in just enough time for him to get released also. We all went and stayed the night at Ryan and Jenn's and then we headed back home to Gillette the following morning. We all spent the remainder of that week at home just being together and hangin around the house. There were many friends, family members , and members of our church who extended a willing hand of assistance as well as their heartfelt sympathys- Thank You for all of the love and support. We as a family have undoubtedly grown closer because of these events and we have also felt a strong love that our Heavenly Father has for us. It wasn't the most ideal circumstances in which this could have come to be and one might possibly even wonder why but I know without any question that we will be stronger spiritually as a family and individuals from our experience. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us and that he has a plan for All of us to be together again one day, with that we will also have the joy of reuniting with our little Berkley(and the rest of our loved ones) and be able to be a complete family for all eternity. Our Heavenly Father is extremely aware of each of us and is there for us at all times but especially in our times of need- We can personally attest to that because of the unexpected blessings of love and comfort that we felt and continue to feel and receive. We are so overwhemingly blessed in ours lives and our eyes have been awakened to how wonderful things truly are. For all that are reading this, you are each a blessing in our lives as well and our love goes out to each one of you. We love you and are so grateful to have you in our lives. We will keep you posted with any more events and the continued progression and happenings in our lives. Love You Bye

Parkar

Well we are still hanging out at the hospital . Parkar has been doing really well sleeping and being stuck in the hospital for the last 3 days!! It has been kind of confusing and frustrating as we have seen a new resident everyday we have been here and never seen a "real doctor" until this morning. We have been going to the ENT clinic which is here in the hospital on the second floor everyday to get his ear sucked out - which Parkar really does not like at all!! Yesterday when we went to the clinic they had is cultures back which showed the 3 most common bacterias found in middle ear infections. The resident acted like since it was a common bacteria and not resistant to anything that we would most likely be able to transition him to oral antibiotics today and possible discharge home as well. We were happy but at the same time a little upset because if they were just going to continue putting him on oral antibiotics than why did we come to Denver in the first place??? She said she would have to consult with the attending doctor and see what the plan would be for sure though. So we went back to Parkar's room as it was time for his scheduled antibiotic. The nurse tried to flush his IV before she started and couldn't get anything to go through so she tore down the dressing around the IV and found that it was bent - she tried to straighten it and push it in a little but couldn't get it to work. We asked the nurse if she could call the doctor to see if we could just start the oral antibiotics then so they wouldn't have to start another IV. She called and said the resident would have to consult with the doctor and when she found something out she would let us know. Teylor and I left to go Cameron's brother's house around 7- it was 11 before Cameron found out that they were not going to be doing anything until the doctor came in this morning. So this morning Dr. Chan came in and said that we had three plans: 1) Parkar could just get a regular IV and stay in hospital another 7-10 days on IV antibiotics, 2) He could get a picc line and we would be able to go home and he would have home health come and administer his antibiotics for the 7-10 days, 3) They could do another surgery and replace the tubes - the only down slide is we would have to wait until Monday as there is no PICC line nurses here on the weekends and the surgery he said would have to be done by his doctor Dr. Allen which he doesn't come back until Monday as well. He said his recommendation would be to do the picc line for one reason that wouldn't have to pay for a 15 day hospital stay and it may be more beneficial,(which we would have to agree although the picc line is not going to be fun for Parkar what so ever) and to do the surgery again since there might be bacteria holding onto the tube. He said that if they do the surgery they would most likely put the picc line in during surgery so he would put out although the nurse said they do do a local for it anyway. We are a little confused because all the residents have been acting like we would be able to just do the few days of antibiotics and then go home but the way doctor Chan explained everything he said given Parkar's history he would not take any chances and do everything they can do now. They had to put in another IV (after 3 needle pokes they got one) in in the mean time so he could be on the antibiotics from now until Monday. So we continue to just wait and hope we can get a definite plan on what is going to happen and have a little bit of consistencies in every one's story's - we can only hope!! That's it for now and off to nap time we go!!

Day 1

Parkar is doing wonderful for our first night in the hospital!! We arrived at Children's around noon yesterday. It took a while before everyone was on the same page and knew what we were doing here - and ended up being a long day. Parkar had just fell asleep around 1:45 and had been sleeping for about 10 minutes when his nurse came in and said we needed to go to the ENT clinic (which is here in the hospital on the second floor) so they suck his ear out and look at it with their microscope. We went down there and they took cultures again, sucked his ears out, and put antibiotic drops in it. Parkar was already very tired and he screamed and screamed FOREVER it seemed like. We got back to the room and finally calmed him down and he fell asleep around four and twenty minutes later they came to get him so they could start his IV - and that was awful!! He is on two different antibiotics that infuse over an hour and they do it every 8 hours. We are waiting on the cultures to see what they grow out this time and it will take 48 to 72 hours before we get the results. Once those come back the doctors say they will have a better idea on how to treat this. Cameron feels like they still have no idea of what is causing his recurrent infections but who knows. Hopefully once they find out what bacteria is growing they can come up with a plan for the future and we will know more. This hospital is great - they have a big play room two doors down from ours, they have a huge library for the kids, tons of activities to do, and lots to keep us busy while we wait!! Well that's all we know for now - keep thinking of Parkar and thanks for everything!!

Rough One

So I really don't know where to start or even what to say - I just need to let my feelings out while I wait for Cameron. Parkar finished his medicine (it will be two weeks tomorrow) two weeks ago. The Sunday that we were camping (which was 4 days after he stopped his medicine) he woke up with a runny nose and his face stunk like it always does when he gets his infection - but I thought no big deal but I knew in the back of my mind this was a VERY bad sign. Last week went by and we were doing good - still had a ucky runny nose but nothing else. Sunday and Yesterday he was acting different, real clingy, fussy, etc. so yesterday I took him to Public Health to have them look in his ears and the nurse said she could see his tube in his right ear (the bad one) and I was so thankful. She did say compared to the left ear the right was a little pinker than the left. Well today he was fine until after nap time. He was crying when he woke up which he never does and I picked him and immediately knew he had a fever. I liked at his ear and sure enough there was green puss draining out of it. I called the nurse line at the Children's Hospital and told her my story again - she said that Dr. Allen was out of town until Monday and said she would look over his notes from our visit and call the on-call doctor and call me back. She called my back within 5minutes and said he needed to come to Denver tonight or tomorrow morning and he needs to be admitted into the hospital. I don't even know what to think - I'm glad because HOPEFULLY he will finally get over this, I'm scared, I don't want to watch him go through the pain of the IV's, picc line, people checking him but at the same time I know this is what he needs, I'm frustrated because we will have to see another NEW doctor (since ours is out of town) and explain everything again - but again know it is for a very good reason and that this will all help Parkar - I'm just numb. Well hopefully one of us will be able to update what we know - and please keep praying for our little Parkar - he needs it. Sorry I just needed to vent and let my feelings out while I sat here and cried - Thanks again and PLEASE PRAY!!!! Raeann
