Horsetheif Lake

Roasting marshmallows

Parkar was getting a little wild with his marshmallow wand
so mom had to help him a little!!

On Saturday morning Cameron made us breakfast and then we went to Rapid because our air mattress wouldn't hold air so we need to get a new one. On our way there just about a mile down the road from our campsite along the road and up in the rocks we saw mountain goats. I have never seen mountain goats before (in person) so we got out and took some pictures of them - they were really neat to watch climb straight up rocks!!

After we ran to Wal-Mart we decided we would take the boys to Storybook Island again. We had a picnic lunch there in the park and then walked around Storybook Island for a couple hours.

We went back to Horsetheif Lake and went fishing. Cameron threw out his line the first time and caught his VERY FIRST fish - a 2inch croppy!!! Teylor threw his out there a few times and before to long he also caught his VERY FIRST fish!! He named him Willie and we had to keep him take and show Gramps and Gram his fish. He was so excited and the look on his face you could tell he was so proud of himself. The boys fished for about 4 hours and then we went back to our camp and cooked dinner.
Parkar insisted that he carry (or drag) the fishing box and
his chair!! Stubborn little buster!!

Look at his face isn't he so PROUD!!

After dinner we were getting ready to get a fire going and Cameron asked me if I had ever seen Mount Rushmore at night - and neither one of us had so we thought it would be fun to go watch it be lit up! It actually was really neat and looks different at night. Teylor thought it was pretty neat how the lights kept getting brighter and brighter until you could see all their faces - I would recommend it to anyone who has never seen it lit up at night!!
The picture at night didn't turn out quite so well so I didn't post it.

After we got back to our campsite we started a fire and sat by it and talked for a while then we all went to bed. On Sunday morning we went for a little hike around the lake - the boys had a great time throwing rocks in the water.

On our hike we came across this goose

When Cameron paid for our campsite the people gave him a coupon thing for a restaurant in Keystone for 99cents all you can eat pancakes for a family - We really didn't feel like cooking and who could pass up that deal - so we went down to Keystone and stuffed ourselves full of pancakes that were very delicious!! After we ate we went fishing again (just Teylor fished) for about 2 hours. Teylor's first cast he reeled in about a 5inch Trout - he was thrilled that he caught a "real fish!" Teylor named his trout Mount Rushmore because "he is so big" and of course we had to take him home as well to show Gramps and Gram!!

"Mount Rushmore"

While Teylor was fishing Parkar was having a great time throwing the night crawlers into the lake at the 5 little ducks that were right by the shore. He would throw one in and they would fight for the worm and he would giggle - it was quite funny to watch him get a kick out of the ducks.

After we went fishing we went back and packed up our campsite and headed to Spearfish. We wanted to take the boys back to the river that we had played in the week before. We all had a lot of fun playing in the river. Cameron talked Teylor into doing a somersault off the bank and into the water - he had a lot of fun with that.

So after a long and VERY busy weekend we got home just in time to get cleaned up, show Gramps and Gram Willie and Mount Rushmore, and then it was off to bed!!!
Good times! The boys are going to have some great memories of their childhood! :0) We are going to Mount Rushmore this weekend. Our kids have never been so we are biting the bullet and taking a quick weekend trip. Maybe we can go at the end of the day so we can see it light up. :0) Deidi
